Inaugural International Conference: Cross-curricular language learning

30th June to 1st July 2017 - Sheffield Institute of Education, Sheffield Hallam University

Cross-curricular language learning: increasing motivation, confidence and attainment

A two-day conference that welcomes researchers, teachers, trainee teachers and teacher educators. Topics include:

• The impact of CLIL and immersion techniques on pupils’ motivation and progress

• Practical ideas for increasing cognitive challenge, motivation and engagement in the primary and secondary classroom

• How cross curricular learning can support pupils who will take England’s new language exams

• What we can learn from other countries

X Jornadas Didácticas de ELE

30th June 2017 - Instituto Cervantes Manchester - 09.30 - 18.00

For the 10th consecutive year, the Instituto Cervantes Manchester is hosting the Jornadas Didácticas de ELE - a training day for teachers of Spanish as a foreign language in the UK and Ireland.

The event will consist of 2 plenary sessions and a selection of practical workshops (each lasting 50 minutes).

Keynote speakers:

Lourdes Miquel - "El falso dilema entre comunicación y gramática: la gramática desde una aproximación cognitiva."

Alan Maley - “Creativity: The What, the Why and the How.”
